Welcome to Dukes Dog Kitchen. Founded by Joel and Zulema Hyman, we’re a fully independent, family-owned business making small-batch dog food. We don’t have corporate investors or outside partners – just a simple goal to create wholesome meals you can feel good about putting in your dog’s bowl.
How We Started
Dukes Dog Kitchen began with a family emergency. Joel’s mother’s dog, Duke, faced a severe health challenge, and doctors gave him a timeline of just six months. We wanted to do everything possible to support his everyday quality of life, starting with his diet.
Our goal was superior nutrition, given that most commercial products were heavily processed or prohibitively expensive. Working with a trusted veterinarian to better understand canine dietary needs, we developed a soft-food recipe right in our own kitchen.
We began feeding the new meals to our four family dogs and saw very encouraging changes. Today, well past his original timeline, Duke is doing wonderfully.
Taking our food to local farmers’ markets was the turning point for the business. We heard from pet parents whose picky dogs were actually excited to eat again, and from folks who noticed the food seemed much gentler on their dogs’ sensitive stomachs. Realizing the community needed an affordable, natural option, we officially launched Dukes Dog Kitchen.

- Frozen for Freshness: We don’t use artificial preservatives. Our meals are frozen immediately after cooking to help lock in freshness.
- For All Life Stages: Our soft-food recipe is designed for dogs of all ages, but it is especially helpful for senior dogs who need meals that are easy to chew.
